Behind the Scenes
How do we do it?
Remote Crews Using remote camera crews allows us to expand our performance into the real world. When our actors are performing a remote scene, they are no longer bound by the rules or limitations of the stage. During stage and green screen scenes, the environment exists either partially or entirely in the imaginations of the performers and the audience. Remote scenes allow the actors to interact with or within a real location, adding a new level of realism to their scene. Since the remote scene is captured by a mobile cameraman, the actors are able to explore genres that would be either difficult or impossible to explore while trapped inside a theater. We are also able to take advantage of in-camera editing techniques to create a more cinematic experience.

Remote Crews By taking advantage of various forms of consumer technology, we are able to deliver the remote crew footage to the theater in many ways. For some shows we use computer technology to send a live video feed back to the theater over the internet. For in-theater scenes, or scenes within close proximity to the theater, we can send the video feed over long lengths of cable. For distant remote scenes that involve in-camera editing between scenes, we have a 'runner' bring the recorded tape back to the theater. This adds a 1-2 minute delay between filming and playback, but allows the cameraman to play with a wide range of editing and filming techniques that are not possible in a single live shot.
