 | Chris co-founded The AV Club Productions, Inc. with Andy Cochrane back when our goal was to create the most technologically advanced improv comedy shows humanly possible. Now that our focus has shifted to video production, my role has morphed from video mixing and general technological wizardry to artistic direction, prop design, special effects makeup, costume design, set design, graphic design, web design, and lots of other titles that include the word "design." Ever since I was a child, I've been fascinated (ok... obsessed) with movie makeup and special effects. Now that I'm an adult, with the help of some friends in the industry, I have been learning everything from animatronics and prop design to lifecasting and latex prosthetics. I'm really excited to help take the creative side of The AV Club's projects to the next level! Now for the "geek street cred" portion of my bio. Here are the things I do when I'm not working on projects for The AV Club. (But to be honest, most of my projects end up being AV Club related at some point!) - Building an all-aluminum live-sized R2-D2 with both RC and PC/AI control over a full on-board animatronics system. Photos and videos to come soon, over at The AV Club Blog.
- Microcontroller programming (Arduino mostly) for use in robots, as well as prop construction for AV Club projects.
- Game Design
- VJing (Mixing video and effects in realtime alongside DJs at parties/raves/etc)
- Graphic Design
- Web Design
- Programming
- Motion Graphics
- Building a custom arcade cabinet
- And occasionally, sleep.
At heart I'm really just an artist/engineer. What ever the medium, I just love to create. When I'm not actively creating or building something, chances are I'm spending my time learning about new techniques and methods for creating and building stuff.
